When I am working with other people, I like to help them out. I often get asked to give advice. I like to take the lead in an activity rather than be a follower. People think I am a pretty good leader. I quite like to be in a group like this.
When I was in year 10 I had to make a model for science. Three other students and I worked for weeks making papier-mache models and things. It was good fun. Better than sitting in class listening to the teacher. I think I learnt more by making the model than I did for the rest of the year in science.
I am into the outdoors. I like skiing and kayaking. I try and get away during long weekends and at holidays and trips. I have a group of mates I like to do adventurous things with. We may even try parachuting one day.
I was always in the middle of things. I got into trouble a bit at school for being the ring leader of some pranks, but they were never really serious. I just like having some fun. I was in the school's football team and I captained the tennis team for two years.
I like things to be pretty straight forward not too complicated. I like to be given instructions in what to do and then left to do it. I like to try things out for myself. I never read an instruction manual. I would rather see a diagram or a demonstration than be told about it or have to read instructions. I like to see in my head what I have to do first before I do it.
I have a good circle of friends. I belong to a number of clubs. I like being with other people. I've played a few team sports. I love to go to the movies or have friends around to watch videos.
I am a bit of a loner I guess. I will usually wait for someone else to introduce themselves. I tend to be the person who works in the background. If there is something to do I tend to get on with it and do it myself. When I am working with others I like to have it sorted out who is to do what. I don't like disorganisation. In many cases I will end up doing the job myself.
I had a personal tutor for my later school years. I think I learnt much better with the tutor than I did at school in class with other students.
I do a lot of reading. I love reading science fiction and fantasy novels. I also like to do crossword puzzles. I do the cryptic crossword puzzle at breakfast every morning.
I didn't get involved in any of the school teams or other groups. I had friends but I preferred to do things by myself most of the time. I was really good at Maths at school. I won the Maths prize in my final year. I probably learnt most from my studying at home with my text books rather than in class from the teacher.
People say I am a bit reserved and quiet. I don't feel that I do it on purpose. I guess I just don't like putting myself forward.
I have a few good friends that I have known most of my life. We socialise by going to each other's houses for dinner. We don't go out as a group much.
I tend to be the leader in most of the things I do at work. I enjoy being in a group situation especially if I feel I can make a real contribution to what the group can achieve. I like to talk with the people I am working with. I like to share ideas and thoughts.
The best learning experience I can remember was when I was in second year at university. We had a role play on an environmental issue. My role was as a logger. I had to research all the issues and then make up how I would respond to the issues. I really enjoyed using my imagination and making up the role. It was much better than sitting through a lecture and being told about the issues.
I don't have a particular hobby. I've tried a whole lot of different things. I've always been in some type of band. I still play in a band. I have an extensive collection of records and CDs of all types of music.
I learnt to play several musical instruments in school. It was the one thing that kept me going to school. I played trumpet in the show band and I took the lead role in the brass section. I got my best marks in subjects like English and Drama. I really liked being in the school debating team.
When I am doing things I usually have a tune in my head which I hum along to. I find I work best if I have music on in the background. I tend to get on well with other people. Many of my friends think that I'm pretty easy to talk to and get along with.
I get on well with most people. I'm often the centre of the action at parties. I have a good lot of friends. We often go out to see bands and karaoke nights. I like to tell jokes. It makes me feel good when I can make people think I'm funny. I can remember just about every joke I've ever heard.
