Instruct clients in fitness activities

A set program is suggested for the group that you have used before

You have decided to suggest to the group that they follow a program of activities that you have used before. You feel comfortable with this program as you have used it with other groups.

You can view the exercises and activities you have planned for Garry, Rob and Susie by clicking on the link below.

You get the group together to introduce the program. You tell the group what you want them to do in each activity. You take considerable time to explain to the group why each of the activities in the program is important and what they will get out of the activities. You also tell them, in detail, how to perform each part of the activity.

Points to consider

It is tempting to jump in and start by giving your clients an exercise program to follow. You need to consider what instructional techniques are most appropriate for you to use. The techniques you use need to meet the preferred learning styles of each of the clients before you start them on a program. Think about the best ways you can get information from each client on how they prefer to learn.

Tutorial hints

You will need to have a look at the learning resources that describe the different types of instructional methods that can be used in teaching people how to participate in a fitness program. Make sure you understand how each instructional technique is related to each person's learning style.

It is obvious that not all of the clients have related to how you presented the program. You will need to come up with a way of making sure all the clients in the group feel comfortable with how you give your instructions. What will you do to try and make sure you are able to relate to all the clients?
